CLARITY IS POWER
Have you ever been at a networking meeting talking with a group of people and someone asks you what you do, and you find yourself excited to tell them? You start talking about what you do and how you do it to help your clients. You can’t help to be positive and upbeat because you are clear on what you are talking about. Some of the people in the group will just listen with not much reaction, but others are nodding their head saying, “yes that’s what I need”. That nodding head makes you feel good to have that clarity about your business, doesn’t it?
Clarity on what you offer and who needs it is what makes a business successful.
the quality of being clear and easy to understand
Whether you’ve been in business forever or only for a short time you need clarity to attract clients.
- Clarity on what you offer to clients.
- Clarity on how you provide your service.
- Clarity on what your clients need.
- Clarity on who your ideal client is.
Where do you find that kind of clarity?
I like to start at the beginning. Why did you start your business? What did you think you had to offer that was different or better than others? Look back over your business and ask yourself what you expected from your business. Think about all the successes and all the failures you’ve had on your journey. What did you learn from both success and failure that changed your business and how you offer your service. Which changes made the biggest impact good or bad? This work is important because we learn from our failures but we also can see where we could have done more with our successes.
It’s your history and there’s a lot to learn from it about your business and how to define your clarity.
Once you know what you have to offer and how you do it better you must clarify who needs your service and exactly what they need from your service.
To do this look at what the clients you have now say about your business and what they need most from your service. Watching, listening and learning, you’ll see from them what part of your service gets them the best results. Where are you seeing your clients thrive from working with you? What are those clients saying about your service, and what they appreciate most?
You’ll learn from them what your ideal client needs.
Study what others in your field are doing, both those that are successful and those that are not. There is so much to learn from what they are doing and how their clients react. If you see a business in your field working with the clients you want to work, “model” what they are doing, put your own spin on it and make it your own. This is how we learn, it doesn’t all have to be all trial and error on your part if someone’s already figured it out start from there! From all this knowledge you’ll learn what your ideal client needs to hear from you. You’ll learn to define a clear message telling your ideal client you understand what they need most. This kind of clarity is what makes your ideal client react and take action because they recognize that what you offer is what they truly need.
This information is what you build your success on.
The more clarity you have on what you offer the more the clients you want to work with will recognize you as the one to help them. But your clear message will also attract more than your ideal client, it may attract clients who are unclear on what they need. They come to you wondering if your service will help them. For some it will for others it will not. Your clarity on what you offer and who you can help the most will help you weed out those that are not your ideal clients. It is very hard to help people solve a problem if they haven’t been able to identify the problem that is causing them trouble. You can wind up spending a lot of time with this type of client and never making them happy.
