You can have a beautiful site that functions flawlessly and is easy to use. When that site is new you are excited, it looks good, it has the information about your services and the benefits of your service, but as time goes on you noticed that nothing is happening with the site. Where are the visitors? Why aren’t you getting leads and new clients?
Your website can’t do it alone.
You probably thinking what a lot of businesses think when they create a website, “If I Build it They Will Come”. It is just not the truth, yes you’ll get a flurry of visitors when you first announce your site and when you have a speaking event or are promoting something, but on an everyday basis, your website is competing with MANY other websites offering similar services and products. The truth is that having a site alone is not enough, even sites with great content and focus need outside help.
Is your website just for credibility and contact info?
This reality has lead to many small business owners thinking that a website is a must for credibility and contact information but not a marketing tool that can help grow your business. Therefore they don’t see why they should invest in a new website, or why they should even bother to update their website on a regular basis. Their websites don’t lead to increase business so they become more of an online brochure for their business. Sadly these sites sit on the web waiting for visitors to discover how great you and your business are, but those visitors are few and far between.
Online brochures don’t lead to more business
It’s not surprising these online brochure websites don’t lead to more business. They contain some recycled information about your business and a contact page. All they do for your business is to give those people who are already interested in hiring you your contact information. Pretty much replacing a yellow pages ad.
More advanced websites have a strong message of what problem you solve and who you solve it for (your ideal client). These sites not only tells what you do and the benefits of your service it builds a sense of “know, like and trust”. Letting those who need your service get a feel for who you are and how you conduct your business. Advanced websites contain information that allows visitors to the site to make a decision. Even these more advanced sites need help to bring those interested in your service to the site.
The potential of good website is endless
The potential of your website is endless but most people stop at just getting something online good or bad. Your website is the hub of your digital marketing. A strategic plan for your digital marketing starts with your site. When creating a website you need to be thinking of which digital marketing tactic are best for your business. The more advanced your site, the more work you put into why you do the work you do, what you have to offer and very important who your offering serves best, the better the understanding you have about how to using digital marketing to consistently reach potential clients.
Statistics prove that you have to reach out 7-8 times to people that are interested in your service to get them to make a decision. Those are the people that are interested, what about the people who just think it sounds good but are not ready? You have to be consistently reminding them you are out there. This is where most of us fail, we put up the website and just sit back and wait.
